Bifocal Contact Lenses
Anyone got these or tried them?

I wear lenses as I'm short sighted but have to wear reading glasses for anything close up and I've had enough of carrying them around, worse still, forgetting them and not being able to even check a text message!

Thanks in advance......

Thanks Steve P, all booked in for a consultation, hopefully it's bye bye to the annoying readers!

For life hopefully..And I can never get cataracts.
The downside is that I can't focus in the normal way, so to read close up, I have to position it at the right distance.

Blimey. How many years do you expect to not need specs for?

A lot of people used to go to South Africa for this sort of thing, didn't realise eastern europe was the place now. Interesting.

That's why I had my lenses replaced.. Too far gone for laser.. Glasses were going to cost a fortune and would have half a dozen focus zones. I still have my old glasses and am amazed I could ever see through them..

Laser surgery is only temporary, the optimum time to have it is late 20s early 30s (usually) when your prescription has settled down but before the deterioration of your vision due to old age. You might get 5 years perfect vision if you get it done at the optimum time but you're likely to have to wear glasses again at a later date.

For an old washed up cunt like SteveP there's next to no point as he'll be peering through his sad old man spectacles again within eighteen months.

Serious question:

At £130 for three months worth, wouldn't it make more sense to just get laser surgery?

I'm so glad I'm not blind. At my last eye test the optician got up to check I wasn't cheating somehow. She then called colleagues in to show them what I could see. That really happened!

I went to Vision Express, Ray - they were £130 for three months worth. Still can't believe how comfortable they are.

What optician did you use Steve P and what price are they?

Re: Bifocal Contact Lenses
They have concentric rings of different strengths. Your brain then works it out.
I have something similar except that the lenses are implanted internally instead of contacts.

Re: Bifocal Contact Lenses
I use them for work and they are the multifocal type that Steve has. It takes a couple of weeks for your brain to unscramble the different focal lengths but they work a treat once you get used to them.

LOL

I should have asked the tiddly when he gave them to me!

Re: Bifocal Contact Lenses
I've been wondering about that now for 10 mins Steve Son, ie how do those with sepatate areas work, coz I assume the lense is moving with the eye?

There are others which have all strengths covering the entire lense, and the eye works out which to use depending on distance. That version makes more sense.

Re: Bifocal Contact Lenses
I have just started using multifocal disposable lenses, the optician gave me some to try, and they are so comfortable I forget I'm wearing them.

I've no idea how they work - with glasses, you need to use different parts of the lens to see either long or short? Obviously not an option with something sitting on your eyeball!

My left eye is 2.25 and right 2.00, seems odd that my left eye is better for distance, but they reckon the brain decodes the difference automatically.

have the same problem, my optician has given me a left lens which is slightly stronger than the right, sounds silly but it works ,
